Latest Update: Now confirmed and starting with the Giro d’Italia in May 2013…

In 2013 I have challenged myself to cycle 10,000 km in 63 days when I will attempt to solo cycle the 3 Grand Tours of Europe – the Giro d’Italia, Tour de France and Vuelta a España. Just like my Tour de France challenge in 2012 it is a memorial cycle ride for my late father Bob Martin and once again I’ll be cycling as a fundraiser in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust.

One man. One cycle. One BIG challenge.

Welcome to Tour de France for Teenage Cancer Trust, a non-profit fundraising website. My name is Kyle Martin and for 3 weeks in June and July 2012 I solo cycled the 2012 Tour de France route as a fundraiser for Teenage Cancer Trust, a charity devoted to improving the lives of teenagers and young adults with cancer.

Supported by my wife Kay, and starting one week before the official Grand Départ, I cycled a stage each day, exactly like the professionals. And even though this challenge has finished it’s not too late to make a donation. To ride one stage is extreme, riding all 21 solo was a mammoth task and deserves your support. Read More

About Teenage Cancer Trust

Every day in the UK, six teenagers are diagnosed with cancer and at Teenage Cancer Trust they understand that cancer doesn’t stop these teenagers being teenagers. They know that young people have a much better chance if they are treated by teenage cancers experts, in an environment tailored to their needs.

So Teenage Cancer Trust have created specialist units that aren’t like ordinary cancer wards. Everything about them has been designed to give teenagers the very best chance of a positive outcome. And they want every teenager and young adult in the UK with cancer to have that chance. Official Website

The 2012 Tour de France

The Tour de France is the most famous cycle race in the world and for the most part takes place in France over 23 days every July. The 2012 Tour was the 99th edition of the race. It started on 30th June in the city of Liège in Belgium with a 6.4 km prologue time trial and finished in Paris 3,494.4 kilometres later.

Of the 21 stages contested 3 were time trials, 9 were flat stages, and 9 were mountain stages. There were 3 summit finishes, including one in Switzerland, and 2 rest days. But for most people in Britain it will simply be remembered as the year Bradley Wiggins became the first British cyclist to win the race. Official Website
